Cebu Landmasters Inc., XU sign MOA for ‘Campus of the Future’

On Aug 20, Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) and XU signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to develop the University’s Manresa property in Uptown CDO. Proceeds from the agreement will be used to expand and establish the new XU Masterson Campus, also known as the “Campus of the Future” project.

To expand post-pandemic learning spaces and opportunities for good quality education, the new campus features state-of-the-art school buildings, laboratories, and administration facilities that will soon cater to the academic courses of XU’s schools and colleges.

The main master plan also includes open and green spaces including the main plaza and the interconnected courtyards, campus-wide wireless connectivity, bike lanes, sports facilities, an amphitheater, and a University Forum which incorporates a museum, theatre, and gallery.

The new campus will be constructed on a 21-hectare parcel of land in Manresa, and adjacent to it will be the 14.3-hectare township to be known as “Manresa Town.” With this, the “Campus of the Future” is expected to be three times larger than the current XU Main Campus in Divisoria. The Masterson Campus is also strategically located near XU’s Basic Education complex in Pueblo de Oro, providing a more efficient integration of the campuses.

The project will be constructed in several phases, with Phase 1 expected to start in the second quarter of 2022. The timeline of the campus development is in line with the present COVID-19 quarantine restrictions and protocols.C
