5 local Delta variant cases detected in CDO, city placed under ECQ until July 31
On July 16, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) announced that CDO and three other provinces will be placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the strictest lockdown level, until July 31.
Until July 15, CDO has been placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) as a result of the increasing surge of COVID-19 cases. And with the highly contagious Delta variant hitting the city, restrictions have been heightened. The reclassification of quarantine level was made due to the recommendations of the Department of Health (DOH), its Technical Advisory Group, and the Technical Working group on COVID-19 variants.
According to the DOH, five local Delta variant cases were detected in the city, all of which have been tagged as recovered. These cases are part of the 16 new Delta variant cases across the country, with 11 categorized as local cases. Since March 2020, CDO has recorded a total number of 10,905 confirmed cases—908 of which are active.
ECQ’s guidelines include 100% stay-at-home regulations, no mass gatherings, and no public transport services. With the elevated quarantine classification, residents are urged to remain indoors and to stay vigilant at all times.
Iloilo Province, Iloilo city, and Ginoog city were also placed under ECQ until the end of month.C
